The accident transpired at approximately 11:26 p.m. in the area of Victoria Street and Placentia Avenue in Costa Mesa.

An eastbound truck crashed into a traffic pole on Victoria Street. The vehicle then overturned and caught fire. A pedestrian was also struck by the car.

Emergency personnel later arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian dead. Meanwhile, the truck driver was taken to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
