A 51-year-old bicyclist sustained serious injuries after being struck by a pickup truck in the Talmadge neighborhood of San Diego on Thursday evening, January 9, 2025.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 5:31 p.m. in the 5100 block of Fairmount Avenue.
Authorities reported that the bicyclist was traveling northbound in the bicycle lane when a 27-year-old man driving a white 2022 Ford F-250 northbound on Montezuma Road took the transition ramp onto Fairmount Avenue.
The bicyclist veered to the right, entering the path of the pickup truck, resulting in a rear-end collision, according to Officer Jose Perales.
The bicyclist suffered multiple serious injuries, including rib fractures, a clavicle fracture, a spine fracture, a fibula fracture, and multiple abrasions.
Police confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
