[01-16-2023] Contra Costa County, CA – 8-Year-Old Girl Sustained Injuries After Pitbull Attack in Martinez

[01-16-2023] 8-Year-Old Girl Sustained Injuries After Pitbull Attack in MartinezAn 8-year-old girl, Layla S., sustained bites on her arm and back after a Pitbull attack in Martinez on Monday, January 16, 2023.

According to reports, the accident occurred while playing on a swing outside her house on Saxon Street.

Heather S. stated that she ran outdoors after hearing her daughter scream and seeing what was going on. Her dogs bolted when she opened the door and noticed the pitbull, Spot, biting her daughter.

This was at least the third attack since last summer. Last October, another neighbor was bitten and assaulted in her driveway.

Spot also assaulted a homeless man in August, according to records. Following the previous incident, the owner was instructed to keep the dog on a leash and muzzle while it was outside. However, it appears that this did not occur.

The victim’s mother claimed the unprovoked attack could have been much worse if her daughter hadn’t bent and tucked her head while the dog bit and scratched at her.

Spot has been imprisoned for a time while the owner decides whether to surrender him or not. The owner has yet to respond to requests for comment on Tuesday.
