Important Steps To Take After A Truck Accident In Diamond Bar, CA

After being involved in a truck accident, taking the proper steps is crucial for your safety and for building a strong legal claim. Stay at the scene until authorities arrive, move your vehicle if it’s safe to do so, and start collecting evidence for your case. Then, notify your insurance provider and reach out to our trusted legal team.

Follow these essential steps after a truck accident:

  • Move to Safety – If possible, document the scene first, then move your vehicle to the side of the road and turn on your hazard lights to warn other drivers. If moving the vehicle isn’t safe, wait for emergency responders to assist.
  • Call 911 and Seek Medical Care – Contact emergency services immediately. Even if you feel unharmed, let medical professionals examine you, as some injuries may take time to appear. Keep all medical records and related expenses.
  • Exchange Driver Information – Collect the names, phone numbers, driver’s license numbers, license plates, and insurance details of all drivers involved in the accident.
  • Document the Accident Scene – Take clear photos and videos of the vehicles, road conditions, skid marks, damage, and anything relevant to the crash. Record conversations if possible.
  • Photograph Your Injuries – Capture images of any visible injuries to document the extent of harm caused by the accident.
  • Gather Witness Information – If there are witnesses, ask for their contact details and statements to support your case.
  • Notify Your Insurance Provider – Inform your insurance company about the accident, but avoid providing recorded statements or admitting fault. Follow their instructions carefully.
  • Avoid Admitting Fault – Stick to the facts when speaking with authorities. Do not apologize or admit responsibility, as this could harm your case.
  • Maintain a Recovery Journal – Keep track of your medical treatments, recovery progress, and emotional struggles. This record can support your personal injury claim.
