A 40-year-old Watsonville resident was killed after being hit by two vehicles while running across the intersection of Hall Road and Las Lomas Drive in Monterey County early Friday morning, January 17, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 46-year-old Salomon L. of Watsonville was driving a white Toyota pickup eastbound on Hall Road when the pedestrian ran across the intersection and was struck on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Authorities are still investigating why the individual crossed from the north to south shoulder of Hall Road.
Following the initial collision, the Toyota driver pulled over as the pedestrian collapsed in the eastbound lane. Moments later, a gray Ford sedan driven by 78-year-old William M. of Santa Cruz was traveling eastbound and struck the pedestrian again, unable to avoid the impact. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The Monterey County Coroner’s Office will release the pedestrian’s identity after notifying the next of kin. Neither driver sustained injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
