What To Do After A Car Accident In Lancaster

Car accidents can be distressing. As a victim, however, you must take the following actions as soon as you can, if you are still able, in order to protect your legal rights and ensure your safety:

  • Move To Safety — To prevent further accidents, try to move your car to the side of the road if possible. As you wait for the authorities, turn on your hazard lights.
  • Keep Calm — Remain calm and present at the scene. Examine yourself and other people for injuries. Do not take responsibility for the accident.
  • Contact The Authorities — Notify the authorities about the collision. They will record the accident and issue a formal report that you can use to support your claim in the future.
  • Gather Information — Ask for the names, contact information, and insurance details of the other parties involved, then provide yours. Take pictures of every vehicle involved, including any damage and the license plates.
  • Don’t Admit Fault — Explain the accident in detail to the police, but refrain from saying anything that can be seen as an admission of fault. Simply discuss the facts.
  • Seek Medical Attention — Regardless of how small you think your injuries are, get medical help as soon as you can. Some symptoms might not show up right away. You will also need medical records to back up your claim.
  • Inform Your Insurance Company — Inform your insurance provider of the mishap. In order to report the crash properly, adhere to their guidelines.
  • Don’t Deal With Insurance Adjusters Alone — If the opposing party’s insurance adjuster contacts you, provide them with the basic details. Get legal advice before making any recorded statements or accepting any offers.
  • Preserve Evidence — Make sure that all pertinent documents, such as the police report, medical bills, the other driver’s information, and medical records, are properly documented.
  • Call Arash Law At (888) 488-1391 — Our skilled car accident lawyers can assess the strength of your case, negotiate with insurance providers, and provide you with legal advice on filing a personal injury claim.
