[01-20-2023] 44-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Car on SR 1A 44-year-old male pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car in Santa Cruz on Friday morning, January 20, 2023.

According to the Santa Cruz Police Department, the fatal crash occurred shortly before 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of River Street and State Route 1.

The victim from Santa Cruz County was hit by a car heading north. He sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene when the responders arrived.

The driver involved remained at the site and helped the investigators. They did not think the driver was under the influence of alcohol while driving.
