Wrong-Way Crash Statistics

According to a recent AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety report, 2,008 fatalities from wrong-way incidents on divided highways between 2015 and 2018, an average of 500 deaths per year. These figures are up 34% from the 375 deaths per year observed between 2010 and 2014.

Wrong-way collisions can result in spinal cord injuries, paralysis, or brain trauma. As a result, the sufferer may require special care in addition to costly medical treatments, surgeries, therapies, and other injury-related care.

Everyone is entitled to safe roadways. Intoxicated drivers put innocent people — and themselves — in grave danger. While California and the United States as a whole have made significant success in terms of reducing drinking and driving, there is still a long way to go.

Attention to the road, competence behind the wheel, and proper vehicle maintenance can reduce the odds of getting into a collision. Most accident happen because of negligence, recklessness, and breaking the law are at the heart of most “accidents.” We’ve represented clients in dozens of car crash cases at Arash Law.
