What To Do After A Reckless-Driving Accident
Following a traffic accident, make sure everyone is safe, provided you can still do so. Make an immediate ambulance call, particularly if someone needs medical assistance. Don’t move someone who is unconscious or complaining of back or neck pain unless their life is in imminent danger, like from an oncoming fire or car. After putting safety first, you should do the following to protect your health and rights to compensation:
- Notify the police of any fatalities, severe injuries, or substantial property damage. Get the names and badge numbers of the officers who responded to the site of the accident. Get a copy of their accident report, as this can support your claim later on.
- Exchange names, driver’s licenses, and insurance information with the involved parties, but do not take responsibility for the crash. All of the vehicles involved, together with any visible damage, skid marks, and injuries, should be noted or photographed. Ask the witnesses for their phone numbers and addresses.
- Seek medical attention even if you think your injuries are minor. By proving a clear connection between your injuries and the accident, medical documents can help support your claim.
- Contact Arash Law at (888) 488-1391 for a free case evaluation. We can assist you in obtaining accident reports and other pertinent information, negotiating with insurers, evaluating the strength of your case, and filing a personal injury claim. Without legal representation, never sign any paperwork, accept a settlement offer, or provide a recorded statement to insurance adjusters.
