- Prioritize Safety — If you can do so, move your car to the side of the road away from traffic. Alert other motorists by switching on your hazard lights while waiting for the police.
- Stay Calm — Be composed and attentive. Check for any injuries. When talking with the other people involved, avoid apologizing or accepting blame for the crash.

- Seek Prompt Medical Care — Seek medical attention as soon as possible, regardless of how minor you think your injuries are. Some symptoms might not show up straight away. You will also need medical records to support your claim.
- Inform Your Insurance Provider — Inform your insurance company about the crash. Follow their instructions on how to report the crash properly.
- Avoid Dealing With Insurance Adjusters Alone — If the other party’s insurance adjuster calls you, provide them with only the basic information. Do not accept an offer, make a recorded statement, or sign anything without acquiring legal counsel first.
