[01-22-2022] San Bernardino County, CA – 65-Year-Old Woman Killed After a Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash in Hesperia

A 65-year-old woman was killed following a deadly traffic crash involving a hit-and-run driver in Hesperia on early Saturday morning, January 22, 2022.

The accident transpired at approximately 3:55 a.m. in the area of I-15 Highway and Main Street in Hesperia.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and saw a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser overturned along Mariposa Road. The 65-year-old female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 2019 Dodge Ram reportedly struck the older woman’s vehicle. The Dodge Ram driver did not stop to render aid and continued driving north on the freeway.

The hit-and-run driver was later identified as 30-year-old Giovani Gutierrez L. His pickup truck was found abandoned in ​​Victorville’s Balsam Avenue and Sitting Bull Street, about four miles away from the scene.

The suspect later surrendered himself to authorities.
