What To Do After Being A Victim Of A DUI Accident

If you’re in a crash with a driver who is under the influence, here are important steps to safeguard your rights and increase your chances of getting full pay. Our DUI accident victim lawyers suggest that you do the following if you are still able:

  • Do not leave the area. If possible, pull your car to the side of the road to avoid more accidents. Stay at the location, or you could be charged with a hit-and-run.
  • Get medical help. Getting medical attention on-site can avoid further problems if you get hurt. Getting medical help also records your physical injuries, which can stop insurance companies from reducing your claim.
  • Notify the authorities. Officers may ask the people involved to take field sobriety tests. They will also make an accident record to help with your claim later.
  • Collect information. Take pictures and videos of the cars involved, the accident scene, your injuries, and any important information. Make sure to write down information, like the names, addresses, phone numbers, and insurance details of the other people involved. Finally, ask for the contact information of any witnesses, if available.
  • Contact your insurance company. When talking to your insurance company, stick to the essential information and be careful with your words. They can use anything you say to challenge your claim.
  • Contact Arash Law. We can assist you in getting compensation from those responsible. We will work hard with insurance companies to get you the highest payment we can.
