[01-25-2023] Multi-Car Crash on Interstate 80 Left At Least One Person KilledAt least one person died following a multi-vehicle crash in Richmond on Wednesday night, January 25, 2023.

According to reports, the crash occurred around 10:25 p.m. at the eastbound lanes of I-80, just west of the Richmond Parkway off-ramp.

Authorities stated that three cars were involved and discovered at least one person was lying in the road next to an overturned car.

Despite life-saving measures by emergency responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers worked to set up traffic breaks at the road’s El Portal Road exit before sending out a Sig-alert at 10:42 p.m. to block all eastbound lanes and the No. 1 or left-most westbound lanes.

At 10:55 p.m., the CHP changed the alert by closing all east and west lanes. Around 12:20 a.m. Thursday, all roads were open again.
