What To Do After Sustaining Injuries In A Car Crash

Most car accidents happen unexpectedly, leaving victims feeling confused and stressed afterward. To keep yourself safe and to ensure you can get compensation, please take these steps if you can:

  • Move To Safety — If you can, pull your car to the side of the road away from traffic. Turn on your warning lights to alert other drivers while you wait for help.
  • Stay Calm — Check yourself and others for damage. When you speak with the others concerned, do not say sorry or take responsibility for the crash.
  • Notify The authorities — Call 911 and tell the cops about the accident. They will create a formal report about the accident that you can use to support your claim later.
  • Collect Information — Share information with the other person, including names, contact details, and insurance information. Take shots of the cars involved, as well as any damage, license plates, and injuries.
  • Don’t Accept Blame — Explain the crash to the officials clearly, but avoid saying anything that could make it seem like you’re taking responsibility.
  • Get Medical Treatment — See a doctor right away, no matter how small your injuries may seem. Some injuries don’t show signs immediately. You will also need doctor’s records to support your claim.
  • Tell Your Insurer What Happened — Make sure to follow their directions carefully when reporting the crash.
  • Don’t Try To Handle Insurance Negotiations By Yourself — They might reach out to you. Give them just the essential details. Don’t agree to a deal, make a statement, or sign anything before getting a lawyer.
  • Keep Important Evidence Safe — Make sure to secure all evidence, including the police report, medical bills, the other driver’s information, and medical records.
  • Call Arash Law At (888) 488-1391 — When you file a personal injury claim, our highly-rated law company can assess the strength of your case, negotiate with insurance companies, and provide legal advice during the claims process.
