The collision reportedly occurred in the victim’s family home in Merced.

Maryann C. said the car collided with their house less than two minutes after she and her daughter left.

Family members, Who were inside the car at the time, were only a few feet away.

Unaware of what had happened, her 12-year-old son descended the stairs and stepped on some broken glass.

The wound was so severe that he needed to be taken to the hospital.

The car struck a portion of the load-bearing structure of the house, which required the family to find temporary accommodation.
