Two firefighters were injured after a suspected drunk driver crashed into their fire truck at the intersection on Monday night, January 31, 2022.

[01-30-2022] Madera County, CA - Two Firefighters Hurt After a Suspected DUI Traffic Crash on Road 36 and Avenue 13According to the initial reports from the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of Road 36 and Avenue 13.

A white car traveling at high speeds ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into a southbound 2016 Spartan Fire Truck on Road 36.

Due to the severity of the impact, the truck overturned. Two firefighters inside the firetruck were injured. One of them dislocated their shoulder while the other complained of pain.

The driver of the white vehicle was later identified as 57-year-old Daniel H. He sustained major injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment before being arrested for DUI-related charges.

An active investigation of the case is currently underway.
