A pilot was killed, while one driver was injured after a plane crashed in the roadway of Concord on Tuesday morning, January 30, 2024.
According to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the fatal accident happened at around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Concord Avenue and Diamond Boulevard, just south of Buchanan Field Airport.
Preliminary findings say that the student pilot on board the small aircraft, a Vans RV6, lost power after taking off from a practice touch-and-go landing.
After attempting to return to the airport, the aircraft stalled, making contact with at least two vehicles on the ground.
Con Fire then confirmed that the pilot died following the crash. He was the lone person on board. Meanwhile, one driver from the cars affected suffered minor injuries.
The identities of the people involved in the accident are yet to be revealed.
