Steps To Take After Being Injured In A Truck Accident

Stay on the scene after a truck accident and wait for police and medical help. Get the car off the road. After obtaining evidence for a truck accident claim, notify your insurer and call our award-winning law firm. After a truck collision, you can follow this detailed guide to protect your rights to claim compensation:

  • Move cars to the shoulder. After taking images and videos, move your vehicle to the shoulder and switch on your warning lights to inform other drivers if it is safe. If relocating vehicles is unsafe, follow emergency responders’ recommendations.
  • Get emergency help and medical attention. Let the emergency professionals evaluate you even if you think you’re fine—some injuries can manifest days later. Medical records of visits, diagnosis, treatment, drugs, and expenses help create a case.
  • Request information from other drivers. Share all crash information with other drivers. The parties’ names, contact numbers, license numbers, plate numbers, insurance providers, and policy numbers should be noted.
  • If possible, photograph and video the scene. Document your car, other vehicles, and nearby items like skid marks and guardrails with as many photos and videos as possible.
  • Photograph your injuries. Taking photos of your or others’ injuries is a crucial approach to document damages.
  • Get witness statements. Many people help after an accident. Ask them for as much information as possible to strengthen your case.
  • Notify your insurer of the accident. Don’t rush to give official or recorded statements. Confessions or misrepresentations about the accident could hurt your financial recovery.
  • Do not apologize. This is a common mistake after a car collision. When talking to a police officer, stick to the truth. Describe the collision as thoroughly as possible.
  • Journalize. Doing so will help you recall all your thoughts and feelings during recovery. Tracking your recovery time after an accident is critical for personal injury claims.
  • Contact Arash Law. Our car accident lawyers go beyond quick settlements. They find all accountable parties to maximize your recovery. Our team has answered many victims’ concerns. If the authorities won’t release the accident report or an insurer continues phoning you, our California truck accident lawyers can help.
