Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision Statistics

A multiple-car collision happens when two or more vehicles collide. These are frequently triggered by the inertia of a car caused by being pushed by one or more vehicles, which leads the driver into the path of others on the road or in traffic.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration studied this trend and discovered that about two million multi-vehicle crashes occur each year.

Over 10,000 people have died in crashes involving multiple vehicles since 2014. Drivers involved in these accidents frequently become fatality statistics, accounting for a little over 7000 of the total death toll. Figures show how dangerous these circumstances are on motorways and highways when numerous vehicles are involved in an accident.

Reckless driving, speeding, and drivers who fail to allow pedestrians the right of way are common causes of multi-vehicle collisions.
