Head-On Collision Statistics

In a head-on collision, a wrong-way crash, or a frontal collision, people can sustain serious injuries or even death as extreme force is involved in these types of accidents.

The most common causes of head-on collisions are speeding, reckless driving, and driving while intoxicated. Two-way roads and lane crossings are common places for these accidents to occur.

The consequences of a low-speed collision are just as devastating as those of a high-speed one on a freeway.

There are only about 123,000 head-on collisions each year in the United States, but they account for about 10% of all fatal accidents.

Victims are also at risk of being thrown from the vehicle or smashed through the windshield, leading to a double impact: the first when they hit the ground and the second when they fall. Traumatic Brain Injuries, or TBIs, are common among victims of head-on collisions.

Anyone can get into a car accident at any time. It is a sad fact that all drivers should keep in mind, but it is important to remember. Car accidents have been a problem in California for a long time now. People in California are 11 percent more likely to die in car accidents than the rest of the United States.
