[02-04-2023] Placer County, CA – Multi-Car Crash in Auburn Killed One Driver, Several Injured

A multi-vehicle crash led to one driver’s death and several injured in Auburn on Saturday afternoon, February 4, 2023.

Reports indicated that the collision transpired around 12:17 p.m. on westbound Interstate 80 close to State Route 193.

According to authorities, a bus was struck by a Dodge truck traveling east at New Castle Road.

The truck was traveling west on Interstate 80 when it hit the center divider and flipped over, striking four additional vehicles.

Responders immediately arrived and declared the truck’s driver had died at the scene. Meanwhile, occupants of the other cars only sustained minor injuries.

As a precaution, two people were transported to nearby hospitals. According to reports, the bus that crashed was a tour bus.

Details on the victim’s identity are yet to be released.

From State Route 193, the interstate’s entire westbound lanes were shut down.

It was advised that people avoid the area and look for alternative routes to avoid the traffic.
