Hit-and-Run Accident Statistics

It’s never pleasant to be seriously injured in a car accident because of another driver’s negligence. Even so, if the other driver doesn’t bother to pull over, accept responsibility, and offer assistance, it only compounds the problem.

Unfortunately, hit-and-runs are not an uncommon occurrence in the world of traffic collisions. US hit-and-run fatalities totaled approximately 2,049 in 2016. An estimated 682,000 hit-and-runs occur each year in the United States. As a result of hit-and-run accidents, pedestrians are frequently the victims.

It’s impossible for pedestrians to defend themselves against someone else’s carelessness in the circumstances that lead to most pedestrian accidents.

Drivers who hit and run can be motivated by a variety of different factors. Legal difficulties, uninsured status, and immigration status are all possible reasons why someone might be intoxicated or impaired.
