[02-08-2023] One Killed, Another Injured in Single-Car Crash Involving DUI DriverOne man was injured and hospitalized in a single-vehicle crash while the suspected DUI driver was killed on Highway 70 north of Marysville, Yuba County, on early Wednesday morning, February 08, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal DUI crash occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m. along Highway 70 near Sparrow Lane, just south of Lower Honcut Road, close to the Butte-Yuba County border.

The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation, but the initial report revealed that a pickup truck driven by a 41-year-old man from Sacramento crashed into a construction barrel cone and flipped multiple times, ending up overturned.

The driver was ejected during the crash for not wearing a seatbelt. He was declared dead after sustaining serious injuries. A male passenger managed to escape with minor wounds after being partially restrained. He was rushed to the hospital.

No other information on their identities and the current state of the injured passenger was released by the authorities.

Officers found fentanyl and multiple alcohol bottles inside and around the damaged car, leading them to believe that alcohol and/or drugs played a role.
