[02-08-2025] One Killed, Another Injured After Pedestrian Crash on 101 Freeway Near Universal StudiosOne pedestrian was killed, and another sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle on the Hollywood (101) Freeway near Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles, early Saturday morning, February 8, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 2:36 a.m. in the northbound lanes just south of the Lankershim Boulevard exit.

Authorities stated that two pedestrians were in the freeway lanes when a driver in a black Jeep Wrangler struck them.

One pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a hospital with major injuries. It is unclear if the injuries were life-threatening.

The identities of the victims have not been released. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with emergency responders.

Authorities have not determined why the pedestrians were on the freeway or whether speed, drugs, or alcohol contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
