[02-09-2022] One Woman Killed, Child Severely Injured in Suspected DUI Accident Near Avenue 17According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman was killed, and a child was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash in Madera County on Wednesday night, February 9, 2022.

The fatal accident occurred around 6:20 p.m. on Road 27 near Avenue 17.

Officials say the woman was driving an SUV south on Road 27 near Avenue 17 when a car in front of her began to make a left turn.

The woman allegedly tried to avoid the SUV but was sideswiped, redirected, and collided head-on with another oncoming truck towing a trailer.

According to police, the woman was killed, and her daughter was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.

No other serious injuries were reported.

The car’s driver is suspected of driving under the influence and is being evaluated, according to officials.
The accident remains under investigation.
