[02-09-2023] Two-Car Crash in Covelo Injures Two, Including 8-Year-OldTwo people, one an 8-year-old, were injured following a two-vehicle collision in Covelo, Mendocino County, on Thursday afternoon, February 09, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 12:00 p.m. at the intersection of Crawford Road and Henderson Lane.

Responders arrived at the scene to learn that two vehicles were involved in a broadside collision. One was described as a Hyundai Sonata damaged on its front end. No information on the second car was available. Other reports also stated it was a fence crash.

An air ambulance airlifted one of the drivers to a local hospital after sustaining major injuries. An 8-year-old child was also reported to have suffered minor wounds. No further details were available on the total number of people involved and the extent of other injuries.

Authorities are investigating further the circumstances leading to the crash, including whether speeding, alcohol, or drugs played a role.
