An unidentified 64-year-old man was injured after a traffic crash involving a bicycle in Arcata on Thursday afternoon, February 10, 2022.

The 64-year-old man was riding his bicycle westbound on Spear Avenue; as he turned left, he was suddenly struck by a westbound vehicle trying to overtake him.

The 64-year-old man was seriously injured in the collision. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the driver that struck him remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. She was uninjured in the crash.

Drugs and alcohol were not considered as factors in the accident. Local authorities are further investigating the case.
