[02-12-2023] Orange County, CA – 25-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck, Another Injured in Suspected DUI Collision on Interstate 5

The deadly collision reportedly occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Interstate 5.

Investigations revealed that a 20-year-old man from El Cajon drove a 2001 Ford Ranger pickup truck at a high rate of speed.

The driver of a truck overturned when two of the truck’s wheels flew across the southbound lanes and collided with a 2019 Toyota Prius driven by a 66-year-old man.

Another vehicle, a 2021 Prius driven by a 28-year-old man from Vista, California, collided with the overturned truck driven by the 20-year-old.

Before crews could control and clean up the scene, another car collided with the newly created hazardous location in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, resulting in the suspect’s tires flying across the roads from south to north.

The woman who hit the newly created hazardous scene was not wearing her seatbelt when her 2016 Honda Civic crashed, causing her to be partially ejected from her sedan.

The 25-year-old woman from Ontario died due to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old man driving the Ford Ranger in the initial crash sustained severe injuries and was determined to be intoxicated or under drugs.
