50-year-old Winton resident Carlos R. was traveling east on Santa Fe in his 1998 Toyota Tacoma as he approached the intersection at Ballico Ave and slowed his car. Tyler E. from Turlock, driving a Chevrolet Cruze at roughly 70 mph, struck the Toyota from behind.

Carlos was transported by ambulance to Memorial Medical Center for sustaining major injuries. The Chevrolet driver did not report any wounds.

According to CHP officials, speed is thought to have contributed to the crash, which is still under investigation.

What to Do After a Car Accident

Immediately calling the police after an automobile crash is essential. In case you get questioned by the police, tell them what really happened rather than make assumptions. Even if they had nothing to do with it, some victims might feel obligated to apologize. Such behavior could be grounds for a claim denial by an insurer.
