A 42-year-old man identified as James R. Jr. died after being hit by a car on White Lane early Sunday morning, February 20, 2022.

When the authorities arrived, they discovered that Visalia resident Richardson was lying on the road with serious injuries.

Despite their best efforts, first responders declared him dead on the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the 42-year-old man was struck by a westbound vehicle as he stood in the middle of the road outside the marked crosswalk.

The driver remained on the scene and assisted the police investigation.

Furthermore, the roadway was closed in both directions to allow for cleanup and preliminary work.

Although the investigation is still ongoing, police have ruled out speed, alcohol, or drug impairment as contributing factors in the crash.

There are no other details available.

The crash remains under investigation.
