Road Rage Statistics

Anyone who has spent extensive time behind the wheel knows how annoying driving and other drivers can be.

Road rage incidents can develop due to a variety of common scenarios. When a car enters a highway or into a lane, another motorist may react aggressively if enough room is not provided before entering the lane.

According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, nearly 80% of US drivers reported being highly angry and violent or engaging in road rage at least once in the preceding year. Approximately eight million people engaged in extreme road rage behavior, such as getting out of their cars to confront others or colliding with other vehicles.

Road rage is the cause of approximately 30 homicides in the United States each year. At least once a year, eight out of ten Americans exhibit road rage behavior. Unfortunately, many motor insurance policies classify road rage as an exemption, resulting in no coverage for road rage-related charges.

If a road rage driver has attacked you, most experts suggest that you note down the suspect’s license plate if they attempt to escape. This will help authorities track down the suspect better.
