[02-22-2023] One Injured, 61-Year-Old Man Killed After Two-Vehicle Collision in Crescent CityA two-vehicle collision killed a 61-year-old man and injured a 72-year-old woman in Crescent City on Wednesday afternoon, February 22, 2023.

Reports indicated that the fatal crash occurred around 4:49 p.m. on Highway 101, north of Elk Valley Cross Road.

According to authorities, the 61-year-old driver was in a 1997 Toyota 4Runner southbound when he lost control, crossed into the northbound lane, and struck the right side of the woman’s 2013 Chevy Avalanche.

The drivers were confirmed to be traveling in bad weather.

The driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Authorities are still looking into what caused the collision.

The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, the National Park Service, California State Parks, CalFire, Pelican Bay Fire, and Del Norte Ambulance are among the other agencies that responded.
