What To Do After Getting Injured In A Hit-And-Run Crash

If you’ve been wounded in a hit-and-run accident, taking the appropriate measures can greatly increase your chances of receiving compensation. These measures not only help law enforcement identify the fleeing driver, but they also support your claim. If you’re physically capable, consider the following:

  1. Go to a safe area – To avoid further collisions or injuries, try to move your automobile or yourself to a safe location.
  2. Stay on the site to ensure everyone’s safety – Examine yourself first before evaluating others for injuries. Remain calm and avoid taking the blame.
  3. Gather as much information as possible from the accident scene – Depending on your condition, you may be able to acquire the make, model, and color of the vehicle, as well as its license plate number. If possible, attempt to take a few photos of the automobile with your phone.
  4. Call the police – If you report the collision as soon as possible, authorities will be able to take steps to apprehend the motorist more rapidly. Furthermore, the police will keep an official record of the accident, which will be useful if you file a claim later on.
  5. Obtain the names and contact information of any witnesses – They can help you corroborate your complaint and confirm the incident.
  6. Please ensure you have any injuries assessed and consult a doctor promptly – When you seek medical attention, you will also receive a record of your injuries. To improve your health, follow your doctor’s treatment plan.
  7. Please inform your insurance provider and ensure you stick to the facts without identifying or admitting fault – Accept no settlement offers or make any recorded statements until you have legal representation.
