According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman was killed when a truck collided head-on with her car in Merced County on Wednesday night, February 23.

Officers were dispatched to the crash scene after receiving reports that a truck and a car had collided head-on.

Officers arrived to find a woman who had been thrown from her vehicle onto the road.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

The truck driver was seriously injured and was flown to a local hospital by helicopter for treatment.

According to officers, a third vehicle was involved in the collision, but the driver was only slightly injured.

Officers discovered the truck was driving northbound before crossing over into the opposite lane of traffic for an unknown reason, slamming head-on into the car and ejecting the woman while investigating.

According to authorities, the woman was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
