According to Visalia Police, the incident occurred just after 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of Divisadero Street and Houston Avenue. A vehicle traveling westbound on Houston Avenue hit the pedestrian before crashing into a light pole.

The pedestrian sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Kaweah Health, where they remain in critical condition.

Authorities arrested the driver, who was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
