Two people were hurt after a traffic collision involving a wrong-way driver near East Victoria Drive on early Thursday morning, February 24, 2022.

An eastbound gold Nissan Altima was traveling on the westbound side of I-8 and collided head-on with an oncoming blue Compact car.

It’s unclear why the Nissan Altima was driving in the wrong direction. Both vehicles caught fire following the collision.

Both drivers sustained unspecified injuries in the crash; they were extricated by emergency personnel from the wreckage and rushed to an area hospital for treatment.

It’s unclear whether intoxication played a role in the crash. Local authorities are further investigating the case.
