An unidentified pedestrian was pronounced dead following a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 280 on Friday afternoon, February 25, 2022.

A pedestrian crossing southbound I-280 was struck by an unidentified vehicle for unknown reasons.

After the collision, the driver fled the scene and did not assist the victim.

Officials from the California Highway Patrol arrived on the scene and discovered the pedestrian had died.

The identity of the deceased victim was withheld until the victim’s next of kin was notified.

Officials also shut down several lanes of the freeway while they investigated the incident.

The police have not disclosed information about the suspect or the vehicle description.

The crash remains under investigation.
