[02-25-2023] DWP Worker Injured in San Fernando Valley While Trying to Restore PowerA Los Angeles Department of Water and Power employee was injured and hospitalized in intensive care in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

The accident occurred on a Saturday in San Fernando Valley.

According to LADWP General Manager Martin Adams, this accident and severe injury to one of our employees is a reminder that our line crews and other field personnel are truly unsung heroes who work in dangerous conditions risking their lives to keep the power flowing throughout our city.

There were 38,500 of the LADWP’s 1.5 million electric customers still without power as of 10:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Since the storm began on Friday, crews have helped 127,000 customers regain their power.

The remaining outages were dispersed throughout the LADWP service area, with Glassell Park, Green Meadows, Hancock Park, Hollywood, Studio City, Chatsworth, Mission Hills, North Hollywood, Sun Valley, Tarzana, Van Nuys, and Woodland Hills among the hardest hit communities.

The accident remains under investigation.
