According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the fatal crash that caused one of the cars to overturn and trap two occupants occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m. at 11482 West Magnolia Boulevard.

The initial investigation revealed that a gray sedan driven by a woman was heading north on 170 freeway and ran a red signal after exiting at Magnolia Boulevard. She then hit a dark-colored Honda CRV with its three occupants, including an infant, causing it to overturn.

The responders from the L.A. Fire Department extricated the two trapped occupants, a 40-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, from the Honda wreckage. The man was declared dead, but whether on-site or at the hospital was unclear.

The woman was hospitalized in critical condition. The infant, not trapped, was pulled out from the wreckage and rushed to the hospital reportedly in stable condition. The woman who ran the red light was also hospitalized and is expected to be okay.

As personnel tried to clear the scene and detectives gathered evidence, traffic in the vicinity was affected. At this point, it is unclear if drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.

What to Do After a Car Accident

After an automobile accident, you should always report it to the authorities. Please be as factual as possible and avoid making any assumptions in order to help law enforcement or an insurance company. Many people who were not at fault in an accident feel compelled to express their regret to those who were. Insurers will occasionally use this rationale as an excuse to avoid paying a claim.

When requested, the proper authorities can provide a copy of the report. You can also fill out the online form on our site. We’ll go to work on your case as soon as we have the report.
