Steps to Take After a Pedestrian Accident in San Diego, CA

Staying calm after a pedestrian accident is crucial if you are able to do so. This will help you take the necessary steps to protect your health and your right to compensation:

  1. Check for Injuries and Call 911 – Stay at the scene but move to a safe spot if possible. If moving could worsen your injuries, ask for help and remain still. Allow paramedics to provide necessary medical care.
  2. Collect Contact Information – If you can, get the contact details of the driver and any witnesses. This information is valuable for the police when they create their official report.
  3. Document the Scene – If possible, take photos and videos of the accident scene, the vehicle involved, and your injuries.
  4. Speak with Authorities – Provide factual information but avoid making assumptions, apologizing, or admitting fault.
  5. Seek Medical Attention – Visit a hospital immediately and follow your doctor’s advice closely.
  6. Stay Off Social Media – Avoid posting about the accident online, as insurance adjusters might use your posts to minimize your claim.
