[03-02-2022] Shasta County, CA – One Man Seriously Injured Following Hit-and-Run Crash on I-5

Officials say they’re looking into a possible hit-and-run crash that left a man seriously injured near the Knighton Road off-ramp and Interstate-5 on Wednesday night, March 2, 2022.

[03-02-2022] Shasta County, CA - One Man Seriously Injured Following Hit-and-Run Crash on I-5The first call came in just before 7:00 p.m., reporting that a man had been struck by a vehicle near the Knighton Road off-ramp on the eastbound side.

Officials say they arrived on the scene to find a man injured and no vehicle in the area.

Officials say the man was being treated for facial injuries. He was having trouble breathing, and medics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to help him.

There is a protected pedestrian walkway on the east side of the bridge; it is unknown whether the man was using it at the time of the accident.

There are no other details available. The crash remains under investigation.
