[03-02-2025] Pedestrian Critically Injured in Crash on East Gonzales Road in OxnardA pedestrian was left in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Oxnard on Sunday night, March 2, 2025.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of East Gonzales Road, near the entrance of the Rose Ranch Shopping Center at the southwest corner of Rose Avenue.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 61-year-old Oxnard man was driving eastbound on Gonzales Road when he struck the pedestrian, who was reportedly walking outside of a marked crosswalk.

Emergency responders assessed the victim at the scene before transporting him to Ventura County Medical Center with critical injuries. No updates on his condition were available as of Monday morning.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police stated that excessive speed, drugs, or alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
