The paperwork, according to KGTV-TV, was an eviction notice.

A woman holding a knife greeted the officers at the door, but she closed it, and an employee at the complex told officers she had threatened a maintenance worker with a knife the day before, according to police Capt. Matt Dobbs.

Authorities tried for 45 minutes without success to talk to the woman before opening the door, at which point she stabbed a police dog handler in the chest with a large chef’s knife, according to Dobbs.

According to Dobbs, it went straight into his chest.

The woman was killed by three sheriff’s deputies and a San Diego police officer who opened fire.

According to Dobbs, the officer was taken to a hospital and treated before being released.

The officer is recovering well, according to the police.
