[03-04-2022] San Diego County, CA – One Person Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash Involving Jack-Knifed Amazon Semi-Truck on I-15

A driver was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a jack-knifed Amazon semi-truck in San Diego early Friday morning, March 4, 2022.

[03-04-2022] San Diego County, CA - One Person Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash Involving Jack-Knifed Amazon Semi-Truck on I-15The fatal collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. on north I-15 at the I-8 interchange.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Honda CR-V crashed and became trapped underneath a jack-knifed Amazon semi-truck that was blocking traffic at the crash scene.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the driver of a white CR-V collided with an Amazon trailer that had jack-knifed minutes before and was blocking traffic on north I-15 at the I-8 interchange.

San Diego Fire-Rescue crews arrived to pull the driver and his vehicle from beneath the semi.

After being taken to a hospital by paramedics, the driver died. Shortly after the accident, a SigAlert was sent out.

Traffic on I-15 was diverted to I-8 until 6:00 a.m. Caltrans reports that all lanes on northbound I-15 at I-8 are now open.

There are no other details available. The crash remains under investigation.
