[03-05-2022] 30-Year-Old Critically Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on SR-137A 30-year-old female driver let her car drift into oncoming traffic on State Route 137 in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 5, 2022.

The two-vehicle crash happened at approximately 3:33 a.m. on State Route 137, east of Road 168.

According to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) collision report, officers from the Visalia area responded to a call of a traffic collision along with medical personnel.

She was critically injured in the collision, but the 75-year-old driver in the other car was only slightly hurt and sought medical help on their own.

During the initial investigation, a silver Honda Civic was discovered traveling westbound on State Route 137, east of Road 168. The vehicle was moving at an undisclosed rate.

The Honda’s driver allowed the vehicle to drift into State Route 137’s eastbound lane to the left. A BMW X5 was also traveling eastbound on State Route 137 in the eastbound lane at the same time.

The Honda swerved into the BMW’s path, causing a collision. The Honda driver was knocked out and had to be extracted by paramedics from American Ambulance. The driver was taken to Kaweah Delta Hospital with serious injuries as a result of the collision.

According to the CHP, drugs and alcohol appear to have played a role in this collision.

There are no other details available. The crash remains under investigation.
