What Should I Do Following an Accident?

Upon collecting information, it is wise to file a police report, provided it is safe to do so. This allows the police to keep records of what happened during the accident on a central database, maintaining those records within the police department and keeping that information secure.

In most cases, the police will attend the accident scene. Still, if they don’t, you can contact the police via phone or in person and file an accident report after the fact, so the police will collect that information if they are not at the scene of the collision. They will then provide a police report afterward.
