[03-05-2023] DUI Two-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway Injured Two PeopleTwo people sustained injuries following a DUI-related two-vehicle collision in San Diego on Sunday evening, March 05, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred around 6:24 p.m. on the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway near Sea World Drive.

The responding firefighters discovered two vehicles blocking the road upon arrival. A tow truck had reportedly collided with a BMW.

Two individuals were injured and sent to UC San Diego Medical Center. At least one of them sustained major injuries. There are no further details on their identities and current conditions.

The southbound lanes were temporarily closed as the wreckage was cleared up. Authorities said alcohol or drugs played a role, but there are no updates on the suspected driver yet.
