[03-06-2022] One-Person-Killed-in-Fatal-Pedestrian-Accident-on-210-FreewayAccording to the California Highway Patrol, two men died in a crash on Highway 70 late Friday night, March 4, 2022.

The CHP received a call about a reckless driver around 11:18 p.m. driving south on Highway 70 near Cox Lane.

According to the Butte County Coroner’s Office, Nicholas K., 23, and Ryan C., 39, were killed in the crash.

The CHP began receiving reports of a head-on collision just south of Cox Lane shortly after the initial call.

One vehicle was on fire when officers arrived, and the driver was inside. Officers used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire before it spread to the interior of the vehicle.

According to the CHP’s preliminary investigation, the driver of a Chevrolet Sonic was driving south when he swerved into the north lane and collided with a Toyota Camry.

The Toyota Camry was driven by Clark, according to the CHP.

In the Camry, a 32-year-old woman sustained serious injuries. An 18-month-old passenger sustained minor injuries in the Camry.

It’s unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
