[03-07-2020] Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Several Vehicles in Fairfield Highway

[03-07-2020] Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Several Vehicles in Fairfield HighwayVictim struck Saturday by several cars on Interstate 80 east of Travis Boulevard.

A 34-year-old man identified as Luis Perez Vazquez died after getting hit by several passing motorists on Interstate 80 east of Travis Boulevard last March 7.

According to the initial reports, the victim was driving recklessly along westbound Interstate 80 when he accidentally hit a center median on the east of Travis Boulevard. The incident occurred at about 8:50 p.m.

The victim reportedly exited his vehicle and was inevitably struck by a motorist that was passing by. He was later swept into the eastbound lanes of the freeway, where he was struck by other vehicles.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries after the collision.

The California Highway Patrol said that only two drivers that were involved contacted them and willingly cooperated. The local authorities are currently investigating the incident.

According to the statistics from the Governors Highway Safety Association, in 2018, around 6,227 pedestrians were killed in the U.S., which was a 250 increase from the previous year.

Fatal pedestrian accidents like this collision on Interstate 80 are mainly caused by negligent driving, distracted driving, or drivers failing to avoid pedestrians.

When investigating cases like this, it’s essential to have an experienced California wrongful deaths attorney to conduct a private investigation to better prove the negligence of the guilty party.

When investigating a pedestrian accident case, it’s crucial to have the proper resources to prove the negligence of the suspect successfully. All contributing factors (such as road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting) must be examined thoroughly. Going through these procedures is vital as it can help the victim’s family to receive the justice that they deserve.

Regardless of whether a pedestrian is walking on a marked crosswalk or not, it is always the driver’s responsibility to avoid any incoming pedestrians in his way.

While the investigation is on-going, the victim’s family is entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Through the wrongful death claim, the family may seek compensation for the damages (such as loss of income and companionship, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and emotional distress) that the incident has caused them.

With the help of a California wrongful death attorney, the family’s legal rights and best interests will be protected better. A wrongful death attorney can serve as a helpful legal guide for the grieving family while ensuring that the guilty party will be held responsible for their negligence. They can also help clients avoid being manipulated by insurance companies by coordinating with them on their behalf.
