[03-11-2022] Sacramento County, CA – 14-Year-Old Elk Grove Unified Student Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash Near Brittany Park Drive

An unidentified 14-year-old teenager was critically injured after a hit-and-run near a south Sacramento elementary school on Friday, March 11, 2022.

[03-11-2022] Sacramento County, CA - 14-Year-Old Elk Grove Unified Student Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash Near Brittany Park DriveThe accident occurred on a Friday afternoon south of Brittany Park Drive, in a raised pedestrian crosswalk near Maeola R. Beitzel Elementary School.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a hit-and-run occurred at the scene, injuring a 14-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle.

As the teen rode through the crosswalk, the suspect driving a white SUV failed to yield and slammed into him.

The vehicle is thought to be a white Chevy Tahoe from the 2000s or a similar model.

According to Sacramento Metro Fire crews, the teen transported from the scene had critical injuries.

When they were taken to the hospital, the student was alert, but the district says they don’t know the extent of their injuries.

At this time, no information about the vehicle’s driver has been released.

There are no other details available.

The crash remains under investigation.
